Shirley Molina, DMD
Dr. Shirley Molina is a pioneering force in the field of dental sleep medicine, with a profound commitment to improving patient health through airway and sleep-focused care. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers School of Dental Medicine). With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Molina is a member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine & Dentistry, ASAP (Airway, Sleep, and Pediatrics) Pathways, the American Dental Association:registered:, the New York State Dental Association, and the Nassau County Dental Society. Her dedication to staying at the forefront of sleep medicine advancements is unwavering.
Dr. Molina’s journey into sleep medicine was ignited by a personal revelation about the significance of sleep apnea, a condition often misunderstood and undiagnosed. Her passion for this field was further fueled by influential readings such as “Breath” by James Nestor, “Jaws” by Sandra Kahn and Paul R. Ehrlich, and “Gasp” by Dr. Michael Gelb and Dr. Howard Hindin. These works enlightened her to the profound impact of sleep apnea on overall health, including its links to cardiovascular disease and cognitive impairment.
Driven by a personal connection, having seen her father endure related health challenges, Dr. Molina has dedicated herself to making a difference. She has completed comprehensive training, including the Buteyko Breathing certification, the ASAP Pathways residency, and the Care Convergence Leadership program from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, to establish herself as an expert in dental sleep medicine.
For Dr. Molina, addressing sleep apnea is about more than enhancing sleep quality; it’s about transforming lives. By helping patients achieve better airway health and sleep, she aims to alleviate symptoms, improve overall health, and restore quality of life. Her extensive experience and specialized training uniquely position her to bridge the gap between oral health and overall well-being, empowering patients to breathe and live better.
